Quick verdict
Godokan Aewol Black Pork (고도칸 애월흑돼지) is a Jeju black pork (heukdwaeji) barbecue restaurant on the Aewol coastal road, about a 3-minute walk from Dyne Oceano Hotel (also romanized Dain Oceano). Every seat looks out toward the sea, the staff grill the meat for you, and the pork comes with bread crumbs as a dip. Choosing it turned out to be an excellent call: a satisfying meal, and a comfortable space for a long talk over dinner.

Black pork near Dyne Oceano: why we picked Godokan
For me, a trip to Jeju means black pork at least once, even if I skip the raw fish. I simply love good pork belly, and grilling black pork on a Jeju night is part of the fun. Since a cold drink comes with it, the restaurant had to be within walking distance of our hotel, or a base-fare taxi ride away. (No drinking and driving.)
Looking around Dyne Oceano Hotel, we found two black pork restaurants side by side, almost on the doorstep. One was Sunhee-ne Heukdwaeji (순희네흑돼지), which had the rough look of a local specialist. The other was Godokan, which looked more modern and promised an open sea view. Either would have worked, but we chose Godokan because it looked cleaner and more comfortable.
On the door, a notice said Godokan opens at 11:00 no matter what, and gave a phone number to call if staff ever turned guests away or there was a problem. There is also a small waiting area with seats at the entrance.
Sea view and table service in an Aewol pork restaurant
The first thing you notice inside is the wall of large windows facing Aewol’s coast. The room is laid out so that you can see the open sea from any seat, even if only at a distance.
The view from inside, before sunset.
The menu is simple, built around the black pork geun-gogi assortment (thick-cut pork), so you just order by the number of people. On the menu at our visit (March 2026):
| Menu item | Price |
|---|---|
| Godokan geun-gogi assortment, 600 g for 2 (black pork belly, neck and jowl, plus meljorim and king oyster mushroom) | KRW 66,000 |
| Lunch set, 400 g for 2 (with kimchi stew, steamed egg and meljorim; order 11:00–14:00) | KRW 54,000 |
| Hallasan steamed egg (gyeranjjim) | KRW 5,000 |
| Soju / beer | KRW 5,000 each |
A sea view like this, together with the pork, is a premium that only the coastal-road restaurants can offer, and it is reflected in the prices to some degree. For travelers who came to enjoy the scenery and talk, that premium did not feel wasted. Experienced staff also take over your table and grill all of the meat until it is ready, so nobody has to sit with the tongs all night.
Bread crumbs as a dip, and the geun-gogi assortment
We ordered the geun-gogi assortment, the “bomb” steamed egg, a bottle of Hallasan Soonhan (the milder version of Jeju’s Hallasan soju) and beer. We were told the meat is first smoked with pine needles. Rather than a strong pine aroma, it seemed to cleanly remove any porky smell.
The bowl at the front holds the bread crumbs.
The pork itself was excellent, but what excited me most was the bread crumbs served as a dip. In Korea, pork has traditionally been dipped in salt or ssamjang. Then fresh wasabi became popular, and melje-ot (Jeju anchovy sauce) became a nationwide standard. Lately, some trendy, high-end pork restaurants in Seoul have started serving pork with bread crumbs. A premium barbecue place next to my office mixes bread crumbs with a special salt, and it changes everything.
I never expected to find it at a restaurant next to Dyne Oceano. Dip a well-grilled piece of black pork into the crumbs, and you get a crispy-outside, juicy-inside texture, like tonkatsu, even though nothing is fried. Juicy pork belly with crunchy crumbs made me laugh out loud, it was that good.

The steamed egg rose higher than Hallasan.
Over somaek (soju mixed with beer) and rich black pork, my partner and I ended up having a long, honest conversation about our plans. The comfortable space helped a lot.
